A fearless half-back from Rochester
who was a tear-through type of player and was regarded by many contemporaries as the best half-back ever. St Kilda approached him when he was 18 but strangely let him slip through their fingers. He was a good mark and fine kick and had a powerful and vigorous approach. He was best and fairest in 1927 and 1928. McCormack played in Richmond's 1932 and 1934 flag sides and in five losing grand final sides. He played for Victoria 13 times and was fearless, but fair. He later coached in Tasmania for nine years and eventually returned as an official at Punt Road. |
