L'espresso offers international-style food firmly based in traditional Italian-style cooking, but with French and Asian influences. In the evenings L'espresso changes its personality slightly. From a bustling , lively daytime cafe, it transforms itself into a more sedate, relaxed environment. The restaurant is set with white tablecloths and table lamps. A special evening menu is designed and introduced weekly by chefs Michelle Hastings and Bryson Ross. L'espresso's small kitchen is bursting with activity. The production reaches its crescendo around 6 pm every Thursday. At 6:30 pm, everything is ready for service.

L'espresso uses a selection of the best available dried pasta in the world. The famous Martelli pasta from Lari near Pisa is made by hand and air dried. Fettuccine and rigatoni is from Zaccagni and rustichella is Abruzzo.

Home made ice cream & gelati
Using traditional Italian methods, our ice cream is made on the premises, using fresh fruit and all natural ingredients.

L'espresso, since its beginnings has had a reputation for great coffee and has been referred to in the Age - cheap eats guide as the "Pelligrinis of Ballarat", which we are proud of.
