Shelton line James Shelton came from Kent, England. He was born at Turnbridge
in 1818. He was a sawyer by trade.

Bridget Barnett was born at Oatlands, Tasmania, in 1836 and she was of Scottish descent.

In the year 1853 James Shelton married Bridget Barnett at the Trinity Church in Launceston, Tasmania. A year later in 1854, their first child Elizabeth was born in Launceston.

They sailed from Tasmania and landed in Adelaide in 1854. The young couple with a twelve month old baby then purchased a bullock wagon loaded it with supplies such as potatoes, flour, water and whatever else that may be needed. Then they started out for the long trip to O'Possum Gully Click on map MAP near Kangaroo Flat Victoria.
(There was no road at this time.)

James Shelton died on 1 July 1888 at the age of 69 years.
Bridget died on 20 July 1918 at the age of 82 years.

My Grandfather was James Edmond Shelton: He was born in 1894, married Ivy May Gray in 1914.

Buried at Kangaroo Flat, Gave No 3209 on 20 Jan 1915.

His father was Henry Alfred Shelton who was one of James and Bridget's 16 children. and he married Annie Jane Maddams,

My father: James Alfred Shelton was born on 16-May-1914.

His father James Edmond Shelton was killed in a train accident, aged 21 yeas old.
Dad was only 9 months 2 days old. when he was killed.

James Alfred Shelton married Linda Mabel Taylor on 01-June-1935
at St Pauls Church, Bendigo. Linda and James had three children:

James Ronald George Shelton (Tiger),
Gwenneth Frances Linda Shelton
John Biven William Shelton.


James Alfred Shelton: died on the 28-Oct-1997 aged 83.
Buried at Bendigo Monumental Cemetery Bendigo Vic, 31 Oct 1997.

Linda (Flip) Mabel Shelton (ne Taylor): died on the 8-Mar-2006 aged 89.
Buried at Bendigo Monumental Cemetery Bendigo Vic, 10-Mar-2006.
